Plastic moldings can make new forms with new genetic material, new research finds.
Scientists have found that plastic moldings are able to convert certain chemicals into new life forms, such as bacteria, fungi and worms, through a process called “mutagenesis.”
The process is similar to how genetic material in plants can become different organisms, or organisms that have been adapted for new environments.
Researchers say they have uncovered genetic materials that could one day be used in the molding process.
“It is an exciting development that is likely to have important implications for our understanding of life on other planets and beyond,” said Steven C. Hays, an assistant professor of chemistry at the University of Minnesota, in a news release.
The molding materials can be synthesized from synthetic materials and can be formed by heating up a solution of polystyrene, which is similar in shape to the plastic used in molding.
In the study, researchers in the University at Buffalo, the University College London and the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics in Germany found that the plastic molding material can convert a compound called alkyl benzoate (EB) to a form that can be made into bacteria.
EB is a compound that is produced by a bacterium, called Bacillus subtilis, and is one of the compounds that can convert into new forms.
It can also be used as a biocompatible polymeric material, which has a low toxicity and is good for a wide range of applications.
These materials are also ideal for forming micro-organisms.
When heated to about 600 degrees Celsius, EB is converted into the more common form, EO3.
If the researchers had used the same temperature and temperature mixture as they did in their previous work, EB was converted into bacteria, and the researchers observed that EB was able to turn into the bacteria that can produce new lifeforms.
Hays said they have shown that the moldings they have synthesized can be used to form new forms in a number of different organisms.
One of the most promising uses for these materials is in the production of bio-biofuel.
They can also have a wide variety of applications in the biotechnology industry, as well as in other fields such as food and food-processing industries.
A variety of plastics are used in different applications, from food packaging to medical products.
